YAY! You're having a baby!

It's time to schedule your newborn photos. And you're thinking about whether you'd like them done in your own home or a local studio. I'm going to share 3 reasons why you might opt to have your photos done in your own home.

Reason #1: Comfort

There's no place like the comfort of your own home, especially with a newborn baby (and possibly a toddler and dog or two) in tow. And can we talk about the Minnesota weather? Nobody wants to haul their entire family out in the freezing cold unless we have to. When you book your newborn session at home, I'll come to you (with Starbucks of course) and take the stress out of packing up the bottles, diapers and extra clothes. We'll chat and get to know each other if we haven't already met. I'll ask how you're doing and listen when you tell me about your delivery. And then, we'll create some magic with your new babe and my camera.

Reason #2: Convenience

Need to nurse your baby or make a bottle? Change a blowout or freshen up your makeup? Done. You're at home and have the flexibility to do all of that during your session. Don't get me wrong, I love the aesthetic of using a studio as an alternative to an in home newborn session from time to time (one of these days I may even get around to writing a blog post about the perks of using a studio for your newborn session), but the truth is they are just not as convenient as being at home. You have everything that you and your new baby need right at your fingertips.

Reason #3: Your session will be unique to YOU

Your home. Your decor. Your baby's nursery. The rocking chair that you'll spend hours rocking your baby to sleep in. Your living room, where you savored so many contact naps. Your bedroom, where you snuggle up as a family on a Saturday morning. Do you see it now? Your home is where all of these memories will be made as a new family AND it provides an opportunity to capture beautiful photos that are unique to only you and your family.
